AT&T Inc. adds new 3G cell sites in Birmingham area

AT&T has activated four new broadband cell sites in metro Birmingham, the company announced. New sites in Hueytown, Minor, Ensley and Leeds are on line, and should improve coverage in those areas, a company spokesman said. “We’re always looking for new opportunities to provide enhanced coverage, and our investment in the local wireless network is just one way to accomplish this,” Michael Harbin, executive director, external affairs for AT&T Alabama, said in a prepared statement.  AT&T’s network is based on the 3rd Generation, or 3G technology.
